Pride Season and GayRom (MM) Reader Contest!

Happy Pride Season everyone!

It's been an incredible year since Pride 2014. Marriage equality made it to the U.S. Supreme Court, several cities passed anti-discrimination laws, and the bi-sexual and transgender communities received some long overdue recognition. There is still a lot of work to do, but it's good to step back for a few minutes and acknowledge the successes.

We need to celebrate and what's a celebration without presents? Let's kick off this year's pride season with a survey! You're thrilled aren't you? I can feel it from here.

The first contest of the season is for the GayRom (MM) fans. I'm going to leave the mic open for the next few days and let you guys tell me what you think of the genre. What do you want to see on the shelves and what you're sick of reading? The survey questions cover most of it. Drop all the way down to the Rafflecopter box at the bottom of the page to leave your answers. If you're not a GayRom (MM) reader see the rules below for instructions.

More, please!
What stories, situations, or types of characters do you want to see more often in GayRom (MM) books?

Less, Please!
What settings, plots, or topics are getting old?

I swear to god!
What are you so sick of seeing in GayRom (MM) that it makes you want to smash your Kindle in protest?

My preferred GayRom book length.
Do you like epic tales, novellas, or something in between?

What I read.
Most of us read more than a single genre. What else do you like to read besides GayRom (MM)?

The grand prize winner gets a $30 Amazon gift card.
Second prize is a free ebook by author Lynley Wayne.

Rules:

  • Contest closes June 7, 2015 at 11:59pm (US Pacific Time).
  • International entrants are welcome.
  • If you're not a GayRom (MM) reader you can still enter. Simply put "n/a" for the mandatory questions.
  • Derogatory, hostile, or homophobic comments will automatically invalidate the entry.

  5. I want to see less sex and more story. I am so tired of 99% of all M/M being 'erotica' (which is mostly closer to porn). As a huge fan of Michael Nava and the great classic Joseph Hansen, and Mary Renault, I am gutted by the slide in quality of gay literature (whether m/m or f/f)

What stories, situations, or types of characters do you want to see more often in GayRom (MM) books?

More stories...actual stories and not an excuse to string together a few sex scenes.

    Less, Please!
What settings, plots, or topics are getting old?

NO more 'whatever' kind of shifter and PLEASE GOD no male-preg stories that I find offensive. Being a male gay does NOT make you female.

    I swear to god!
What are you so sick of seeing in GayRom (MM) that it makes you want to smash your Kindle in protest?

Gay men that are actually women with penises, the conviction that one partner must be very short, very effeminate, and general homophobic stereotypes.

    My preferred GayRom book length.
Do you like epic tales, novellas, or something in between?

I rarely read anything but full length novels.

    What I read.

    Historical fiction

I'll make my responses public. I'm a writer & feel that contests are best for those not in the industry.
